Katie Holmes has the ultimate practical-yet-chic wardrobe. The actor is known for her affordable snow boots, cozy knits, and perfectly fitting jeans. But she always has a way of making those staples elevated and surprising—remember her cashmere knit bra from Khaite, or last month’s divisive dress-over-jeans combo? Today, Holmes further proved herself during an appearance on Good Morning America, where she promoted her off-Broadway show, The Wanderers. While heading into the building this morning, she mastered two style conundrums: how to mix metallics, and how to wear your fun party shoes in frigid temperatures. Let’s start with the first tip. Holmes wore a pair of champagne wide-leg trousers by Kallmeyer with an oversized black leather jacket by Tove, white top, emerald green bag by Savette, and silver wedge heels. The mixed metallics were subtle and balanced out by the black jacket and black tights Holmes wore (more on those later). It was a fresh, unexpected element finishing off an already sophisticated outfit.
